2008 SEASON CONCLUDES
Whilst everyone would have been disappointed that the Magpies bowed out of the Premiership race after getting so close, particularly in their Centenary season, Wests Chairman and General Manager was keen to highlight what a magnificent season that club had experienced. “The efforts of the players and coaching staff in taking the team from the bottom of the table to one game short of a grand final appearance in such a short period of time is absolutely outstanding by any assessment. Each and every player and the coaching staff can be justifiably proud of what they have achieved Hammond said and similarly every Magpies supporter can be proud of the fact that their team has restored respect and pride in both the jersey and the club in the eyes of our competitors and the rugby league fraternity in general.” By any measure this has been season worthy of the clubs Centenary.
A big thankyou to our diehard supporters who continue to turn out to support the team through thick and thin, to both home and away matches. Your support really makes a difference and the players do appreciate it. The increase in black and white flags, banners and jerseys in the crowd of late has looked tremendous. Keep it up!
We must also give a round of applause to all the volunteers that make our club tick. No matter the size of the contribution, every bit is truly appreciated and you can rest assured you have made a positive contribution to the clubs success now and in the future.
The Board and Management of the Western Suburbs Magpies would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the following entities who have provided the support necessary for the club to continue its endeavours and who have supported the development of local junior talent and contributed in a significant way to the success of the Magpies in 2008.
Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, Rebel Sport, Delonghi Australia, Sydney Credit Union, Kos Sports X Blades, Fairfax Publications, Macarthur Automotive, Macarthur Ford, Snap Printing Ingleburn and Campbelltown, The Sleeping Giant – Campbelltown, Minto’s Fruit Orchard, Georges On Queen Café Queen Street, Campbelltown, Prime Physiotherapy Liverpool, Whitlam Leisure Centre Liverpool, Alsco Linen Service, Macarthur Engineering, LJ Hooker Liverpool, C91.3 Macarthur First.
Without the support of these partners, the Wests Magpies could not exist nor could they have achieved what they did in their Centenary Season.
It is now time the Magpies to build upon what has been achieved this season and build upon that for next year. The Maggie’s to shine in 2009!!
